Welcome to the Spinal Injuries Association
2010 marks an enormous milestone for the Spinal Injuries Association as we celebrate 50 years of working hard to give people a voice – to ensure people with a spinal cord injury have the opportunity to be heard by all sectors of the community with the aim of achieving equity, independence and inclusiveness.
At the Spinal Injuries Association, we believe in rebuilding lives, promoting independence and preventing injuries. As Queensland’s peak body for people with a spinal cord injury, and for people with the late effects of polio, we provide a range of high quality services that empower our members and clients either in their homes, at the workplace or in the community.

The Association is proud to be a Quality Assured, not-for-profit, membership-based organisation, representing thousands of members and clients around the state. Our offices are located in Brisbane and Townsville. Read more about us …

A founding member of the Spinal Education Awareness Team (SEAT) program in 1987, Wayne has shared his own experience of sustaining a spinal cord injury, as well as important safety messages, with children from Prep to Year 12 in almost every corner of the state. Read more …

Research into clothing needs for wheelchair users
A research student from the University of Sydney is investigating the key problems that wheelchair users with spinal cord injury have with clothing. The results of this study will assist in development of clothing that is aesthetically suited to a seated figure and also meets the functional and medical needs of the wearer.
To complete the questionnaire please visit www.surveygizmo.com/s/220897/388sm.
To take part in an interview or for more information about the project, please contact Imogen Howe by email ihow2897@uni.sydney.edu.au, or by phone on +61-437891659 (outside Australia) or 0437 891 659 (within Australia).
