Exercise Physiology

Regular movement and exercise is an essential part of managing your physical and mental wellbeing.

Our Exercise Physiologists specialise in clinical exercise intervention for those with spinal cord damage. We work closely with you to prevent or manage acute pain, increase movement and mobility through exercise programs, physical activity education and movement modifications.

What is Exercise Physiology?

An Exercise Physiologist (or EP) is an allied health professional with extensive training in understanding the body’s response to exercise. An EP offers an integrated and individualised approach to advanced neurological and musculoskeletal rehabilitation and recovery – for all types of injury and impairments regardless of how long you have been experiencing them. Our aim is to help you reduce pain, regain and enhance muscle movements, treat injuries and prevent injury recurrence. Return to your work, sport and hobbies at a higher level with our support.

Who can access your Exercise Physiologist services?

Anyone can access our Exercise Physiology services, regardless of your age or level or severity of injury.

Why should I choose your Exercise Physiology Services?

Our Exercise Physiologists work together in a team with one of the largest community-based disability service providers in Australia. We have a diverse and modern skillset in helping you manage your disability or injury. We focus on providing the best quality of care that is based on best evidence, and client centred.

Where are SLA Exercise Physiology services offered?

We offer Exercise Physiology services at the Brisbane and Cairns Healthy Living Centres. We also offer home assessments and community assessments on a case-by-case basis. Recently, we started offering telehealth consults – that anyone with an internet connection can access anywhere in Australia.

What type of services do you offer?

Our Exercise Physiologists use exercise to generate a therapeutic or performance outcome. Exercise Physiologists services include, screening and assessment of movement capacity, development of safe, effective individualised exercise interventions, provision of health education, advice and support.

Why would I need Exercise Physiology?

You may wish to see an Exercise Physiologists to support you in improving your overall activity levels and independence, improve pain levels, help manage life with a disability, or for general health and wellness.

What funding bodies do your Exercise Physiologists work with?

We work with all funding bodies in Australia, including, NDIS, NIISQ, Aged Care providers, Medicare, All private health, Insurance claims. If you don’t see your funding provider listed, please get in touch so we can work with you and discuss your options.

 

Do you only offer your Exercise Physiology to people with spinal cord damage?

Our Exercise Physiologists work with all types of disabilities and injuries, whether its neurological, musculoskeletal, acquired at birth or later in life, new or old injuries. Essentially, anyone who is experiencing any form of physical and functional limitations are welcomed to contact and book in with our Exercise Physiologists.
