Spinal Life teams with Spinal Chatter to strengthen WA community

March 27, 2020

We’re teaming up with WA-based spinal cord injury support organisation Spinal Chatter to strengthen and expand our community in Western Australia.

For the last six years, Spinal Chatter has provided peer support for Western Australians with spinal cord injury and their friends and family and we look forward to working with their team and members towards our shared goals.

The organisation was started by Chairperson Karen Harvey, who sustained a spinal cord injury in 1992 and joined the Spinal Life Peer Support team in 2019.

Executive Manager – Member Services Ross Duncan said the collaboration will help continue to connect people with spinal cord damage in Perth, Mandurah and surrounding regions.

“Both Spinal Chatter and Spinal Life have the same aim to provide peer support and connections between people with lived experience with spinal cord damage,” Ross said.

“It made sense for a single organisation to continue to build upon the work done in WA to grow and support the spinal cord damage community in the future.”

The two organisations held a joint end-of-year celebration and get-together at the end of 2019.

Ross said there would be more events for members of both groups coming in 2020 and beyond.
