We will be hosting a World Polio Day event at our Brisbane office on Tuesday 10 October
The annual event marks the birth of Jonas Salk (on 24 October), who led the first team to develop a vaccine against poliomyelitis.
Griffith University researchers Dr Pat Dorsett and Dr Sandra Woodbridge will be presenting the results of a survey, which they conducted with members from Post Polio Networks in Cairns, Rockhampton and Brisbane.
The survey involved sharing how the late effects of polio have impacted on their quality of life and wellbeing, and was put into a research paper which they presented at the Australiasian Post Polio Conference held in Sydney in September 2016.
Dr Dorsett and Dr Woodbridge also recently returned to the Cairns and Rockhampton Networks to present their findings to members who participated in the research.
