It is with regret that we announce that after three and a half years with Spinal Life Australia, Michael Powell, CEO, has resigned, effective 6 March 2019, after being declared bankrupt on that day.
Michael’s bankruptcy arose through personal business dealings prior to his tenure with Spinal Life Australia. However, under the Corporations Act 2001 (Sect 206B) a person who has been declared bankrupt is disqualified from managing and influencing corporations and therefore, he is no longer able to fulfil the obligations of his role as CEO. There is no suggestion of impropriety while in his role with Spinal Life Australia.
Michael leaves Spinal Life Australia in a very strong position for future growth and we sincerely thank him for his contribution and leadership during his tenure as CEO.
Pauline Davis, Executive Manager of Commercial Services, has accepted the appointment of acting CEO while the recruitment process to find a new CEO is undertaken.
Operations will continue to be delivered in line with our strategic plan under the guidance of our Board, Executive Team and acting CEO.
