Gym Membership – FAQ

The Spinal Life Healthy Living Centre Active Gym features fully accessible and specially designed equipment for people with a disability, to use both with or without a wheelchair.

From early February 2020, the Active Gym will be open seven days a week and is located at 2-4 Smith St, North Cairns, just a short walk from the Esplanade.

Accessible parking is available on-site.

To learn more, check the Frequently Asked Questions below or contact us at enquiries@spinal.com.au

1. What equipment is available?

The Active Gym features a wide range of specialist, accessible equipment, including free weights, chest and leg presses, a reformer and cardio equipment such as treadmills and cross trainers.

Classes will also be running from Monday to Thursday, including circuit training, boxing and more.

Please note new members must attend a free orientation before their first work out, so they can familiarise themselves with the equipment.

Access to lockers is also included in membership.

2. Do I need any consultation before using the equipment?

Yes – one of our qualified therapists will provide a free screening and orientation of the Active Gym on your first visit.

3. What are the opening hours?

The Active Gym is open from 7am to 7pm Monday to Friday, or 9am to 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

4. Do I need to have a disability or use a wheelchair?

No. While the equipment available is tailored for people with a disability, a provided adjustable chair makes it possible to use machines without a wheelchair.

5. Is an annual membership the only way I can access the Active Gym?

You can also access the Active Gym as part of your therapy session with one of our specialist team.

6. Do I need to be an existing member of Spinal Life to use the Active Gym?

No, although new memberships are always welcome!
