The Spinal Life Healthy Living Centre is now open in Cairns, and you’re invited to come and see it for yourself!
We’re hosting a Community Open Day on Thursday 19 March at the Centre (2-4 Smith Street) from 3pm – 6pm, with guided tours, refreshments, prizes and more.
It’s your chance to hear more and see the accessible services and facilities up close.
The Centre opened in early February after completing construction in December, bringing specialist services closer to home for people with spinal cord damage and other physical disabilities.
The Centre features seven fully accessible accommodation units, specialist therapy services including occupational therapy, physiotherapy and exercise physiology, a rehabilitation gym and hydrotherapy pool, café, meeting rooms and more.
Regional Manager – Queensland North Margaret McDonald said she was excited about the opportunities the Centre will provide for the Far North Queensland community and visitors to the region.
“Everything about the Centre has been specifically designed and constructed to meet the needs of people with a physical disability,” she said.
“It’s the first of its kind in Queensland and it’s right here in Cairns.
“It’s an exciting step forward in our mission to enable solutions for people with spinal cord damage to live an accessible and empowered life.”
