Working with us
The Spinal Injuries Association is an innovative, progressive, knowledge-driven organisation that strives for success through its people.
A career with the Spinal Injuries Association means you are part of a dynamic organisation that is dedicated to developing and retaining talented staff who can help us achieve our vision of being recognised as a leader in community and disability services.
The Association offers a range of initiatives that promote our unique values and reinforce the positive culture we need to succeed.
Work/life balance
We take a holistic view towards the family and work lives of our employees with the intention of helping staff balance work responsibilities with their family commitments in the following ways:
- Multiple types of leave available to employees include carer’s leave, annual leave, adoption leave, study leave, bereavement leave, parental leave, sick leave and also the facility for unpaid leave.
- Flexible working hours (eg within schools hours, to fit in with study schedules etc.).
- Work from home options.
Healthy Wealthy and Wise
To recognise and reward our staffs’ contributions, we provide our people with access to information on a whole range of benefits for the body and mind. The objective of the Healthy Wealthy and Wise program is to provide a range of optional benefits to our people to increase their job satisfaction, work/life balance and health in general. The program also makes the Spinal Injuries Association a highly desirable place to work!
Salary packaging
Through our status as a Public Benevolent Institution, we can offer permanent staff the opportunity to receive a component of their salary tax free. This is referred to as Salary Packaging. This tax free sum is utilised to pay expenses nominated by the staff member.
Staff can package up to a maximum of $16,050 per annum and have that paid into whatever bills they choose on a fortnightly basis: home loan, rental, credit card, personal loans, electricity, telephone, council rates, school fees – virtually anything you receive a receipt for (apart from investments).

In 2008 the Toowoomba Post Polio Support Group launched their shoe exchange program.
By purchasing Spinal Injuries Association pens you can help us to enhance the lives of people with a spinal cord injury while proudly displaying your support.
