Post Polio Support Groups
Post Polio Support Groups are available to all members of the Association.
We have groups in Brisbane, Far North Queensland, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba and Townsville.
In addition to providing support through shared information and experiences, these groups are active in advocacy and awareness raising, providing information on the late effects of polio to relevant stakeholders within the community, health and government sectors.
These groups aim to:
- provide current information on polio and its possible late effects, and on the availability of community services to people who have had polio, their families, carers and advocates
- assist in the formation and networking of more community support groups for people who have had polio
- raise the awareness of issues affecting people who are experiencing the late effects of polio
- promote an awareness of the Polio Network Queensland to potential users, community support groups, service providers and health professionals.
