Personal assistance
Personal Support Plus
The effects of a spinal cord injury on the body, such as paralysed muscles and other changes to the body, mean that people who have such an injury require assistance to meet their daily personal care and lifestyle needs.
Personal Support Plus provides care and lifestyle support and assistance on both a temporary or permanent basis, either in the home or in a community setting. The service is available for adults who are 16 years or older and have a funding source, which is either private or through Disability Services Queensland, compulsory third party insurers or some other government source.
Our personal care assistants can help with:
- personal care
- temporary assistance
- respite
- aged care *
- community access
- domestic assistance
- holiday support
- case management
- workplace assistance
- conference support.
* service available in Brisbane only
We work one-on-one with our clients to develop a personal support program that suits their individual requirements. It’s important to us that our clients are involved in all aspects of service delivery, recruitment, training and the ongoing management of their personal care assistants.
All of our personal care assistants complete on-the-job training supported by an experienced worker and are required to attend our two-day personal care assistants workshop. The workshop includes instruction on core support required by people with a spinal cord injury and training in manual handling. This style of training supports them in developing their skills and knowledge, and ensures that we are providing a premium service to our members and clients.
