Injury prevention at work

SEAT presenter Robert Spencer on site with Watpac employees

 There’s no cure for a spinal cord injury, which is why the Spinal Injuries Association is so committed to prevention.

SEAT at WORK presenters are volunteers who sustained spinal cord injuries at work, on the roads or on the sports field. They’re passionate safety advocates who reinforce the importance of the workplace health and safety messages people hear all the time.

By sharing their personal and powerful stories of how they were injured and the consequences, the message that “it could happen to you” really hits home to the audience.

The three main causes of work-related spinal cord injuries are:

  • transport incidents (44%);
  • falls (23%); and
  • crushes/being struck by a falling object (23%)*.

 These mechanisms of injury are also among the most common causes of workplace injuries in general, making SEAT at WORK relevant for every industry.

For more information or to invite a SEAT presenter to your organisation, please contact the Manager – Injury Prevention Programs via email seatatwork@spinal.com.au or on (07) 3391 2044.
