Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott — will you, if elected, appoint a Minister for Disability?

Your respective parties have supported the Productivity Commission inquiry into a National Disability Long-Term Care and Support Scheme, which embodies the notion of a National Disability Insurance Scheme.

You are each aware that Australians with a disability have an expectation that this inquiry, the first exploration of its type since Federation, will initiate a totally new and more appropriate approach to supports and funding that will lead to better lives for Australians with a disability and their families.

The delivery of a new approach will be better served with a dedicated Disability portfolio.

Please respond to Australians with a disability before 21 August.
