New disability services advocate for North Queensland
The Spinal Injuries Association is pleased to welcome Mary Langdon to the post of North Queensland Manager at its Townsville office. Mary brings with her almost 25 years’ experience within the disability sector and a passion for improving the lives of people with a disability.
“We are delighted that Mary has joined our team as she is a great asset for our organisation and disability service across North Queensland,” said Spinal Injuries Association CEO Mark Henley.
“Mary’s role is pivotal in ensuring that North Queenslanders with a disability can access the support and services they need within their local communities.”
Mary said she was extremely excited about her new role and is looking forward to continuing and expanding the services and programs offered by the Spinal Injuries Association.
“I am responsible for ensuring the delivery of effective, high quality services to our members and clients across North Queensland including the Community Advisory Service, Personal Support Plus, Peer Support Program, Member Networks and offering temporary assistance and equipment hire,” said Mary.
“I will also continue to advocate for more services and access for people with a disability across the region and identifying ways to expand our programs to improve the quality of life for our members and their families.”
Mary has held senior management positions within the Tasmanian disability sector over the past 10 years and her roles have included advocacy, lobbying and organisational management.
“I undertook tertiary education as a mature age student and completed a Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in Sociology) and an Honours Degree (Research and Thesis year). I’m looking forward to a fulfilling and rewarding career with the Spinal Injuries Association,” Mary said.
