Leave a bequest

Leaving a gift to the Association in your Will is a way of ensuring that our work to rebuild lives, promote independence, empower our members and clients, and prevent spinal cord injuries can continue well into the future.

You can help us to advocate for an equitable and inclusive community for people with a disability by including a gift in your Will to the Spinal Injuries Association. It’s a simple process that could make a real difference.

There are many types of bequests:

A Specific Bequest: is the gift of a specific sum of money or asset such as property, parcel of shares, debentures, bonds or a life insurance policy.

A Residual Bequest: is what remains in your estate, after all debts have been paid and all other gifts have been distributed.

An Alternative Bequest: is since it might be many years between the making of your Will and its operation, you can make provision that, if any named beneficiary cannot accept your bequest, the Spinal Injuries Association will benefit.

A Proportional Bequest: is a specific proportion on your residual estate can be left, eg. 75% of a residuary estate.
