Empowering people for 50 years
This year the Spinal Injuries Association celebrates its 50th birthday – 50 years of providing quality support and services to people with a spinal cord injury in Queensland.
We began as the Paraplegic and Quadriplegic Welfare Association at a public meeting on 13 March 1960 attended by people with paraplegia and quadriplegia who wanted to join forces to advocate for their own needs.
The Honourable Kevin Rudd MP, Prime Minister of Australia
Ever since, advocacy has remained at the heart of everything we do here at the Association and we are proud of our track record over the past five decades, representing our members on a huge variety of issues to ensure equity and inclusiveness for all people.
